ANOTHER QUAKE IN JAPAN:M4.4 quake jolts Niigata Pref.+

TOKYO-An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.4 jolted Niigata Prefecture and its vicinity Wednesday morning,the Japan Meteorological Agency said.The 6:52 a.m. quake measured 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Nagaoka, Ojiya, Izumozaki and Kariwa in the prefecture, according to the agency.The quake followed a powerful one on July 16 that hit the same area and killed 11 people.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the quake, and no tsunami warning was issued.
