Prayer credited with safety of Gospel for Asia missionary

The founder of Gospel for Asia (GFA) says while the spiritual battle continues to intensify throughout India, prayers of Christians worldwide have been answered after a pastor, threatened with death by Hindu extremists, has now been given government protection.Daya Marandi is a GFA missionary in Uttar Pradesh, India. Last week Hindus threatened to murder the missionary, who serves as a pastor to a local Believers Church, if he did not leave the area. They also threatened about 60 people who worship regularly at the GFA-affiliated church.GFA founder K.P. Yohannan says prayer alerts were sent out worldwide and now, local police have agreed to protect Pastor Marandi."And the pastor, by the way," Yohannan says, "he told his people, 'if they kill me, no problem, I'm not going to leave this place.' And the believers, who were threatened that they would have to convert back to their old faith and said 'no we will not,' because some of them were healed by the Lord Jesus, and they did not want to give up their faith. It's been a very good experience how the Lord answers prayer."Yohannan explains that Hindus are focused on religion-not a relationship with the true God of the Bible."For someone who wants to follow Christ, it has everything to do with that individual's 'heart condition, and seeing Jesus as the only Savior, [as the] one who forgives him and gives them eternal life," says the ministry founder. "None of our missionaries go around trying to convert people by giving them money or clothes or enticing them or using any force -- nothing."
Yohannan says threats by the Hindu militants have actually caused more people to attend the GFA-affiliated church. Gospel for Asia supports more than 16,000 church planters in ten countries.
