Evangelization Crusade Among Pygmies

For the first time in the recorded history of the DRC, a total of 4705 Pygmies attended an evangelization crusade in Butembo. Thousands of Congolese people also attended the crusade in order to see the Pygmies who had come to the town of Butembo. The event was organized by Bishop Raymond Lombard, Director of Wheels for God's Word. The crusade lasted from Thursday to Sunday, April 19-22. The first day of the crusade about 5000 people attended. The second day numbers climbed to nearly 8000. The third day more than 10,000 people attended. The last day (Sunday, 22 April) was marked by the attendance of approximately 20,000 people. In total, more than 43,000 people attended the four day crusade. It should be noted that some of the Pygmies walked four days to reach the crusade in Butembo, traveling from the deep rain forests where they live. Thousands of people committed their lives to Jesus Christ during this crusade. Many pastors and evangelists from different denominations helped in the evangelization campaign by forming small groups in which they were able to help people make a commitment to Christ when the altar calls were given. At the last day of the conference, Bishop Raymond Lombard asked Pastor Kibi (of the Church of God in Goma) to minister the Word of God, which he did in a powerful way. Many people responded to the message.
